The ESC countdown is on!
Shortly before the big finale, Pietro Lombardi also commented on the participation of his ex-wife Sarah Engels. Together with Oliver Pocher, he talks about their chances in their podcast – and even makes an initial assessment.
Pietro Lombardi remains cautious – but fair
In the current episode of their podcast “Patchwork Boys”, Pietro Lombardi and Oliver Pocher are now discussing how far Sarah could go with her song “Fire” at the ESC final in Vienna. The 33-year-old singer had already attracted attention with her performance in the first semi-final. Their energetic show, including stunt performances, was particularly well received by many fans. But is that enough for a strong placement in the final?

Oliver Pocher addresses what many fans will be very interested in: “How does the whole number turn out and do you treat her to it?” Pietro reacts cautiously at first. After all, the relationship between him and Sarah has repeatedly made headlines in recent years.
Then the 33-year-old becomes clear: “In the end, it's an achievement to be there. I'll give her the best place possible for Germany,” says Pietro, paying respect to his ex-wife. Nevertheless: “You can’t estimate it!” says Pietro.

“I really wish her luck.”
While Pietro remains more diplomatic, Oliver Pocher is more specific. “We will definitely not come last with Sarah,” says the comedian with conviction. For him, a place “somewhere in midfield” is even realistic. And that's exactly where Pietro finally agrees. “So midfield would be very good,” he explains openly. “I wish her the best of luck. I'm serious, I really wish her luck,” he emphasizes.

A victory? But neither of them believe in that. In the end, Pocher is actually tipping for 12th or 13th place. “But we won't be last – but it's too good for that, I have to be honest. We've had worse performances and things,” said the 48-year-old.

Sarah's presence around the ESC in particular is strong in Pocher's eyes: “She's doing it quite well. Social media, she's always understood that anyway.” Since the ESC is always good for a surprise, Pocher keeps a back door open to be on the safe side: If Sarah wins, they “always knew it”. If things went wrong, that was of course “clear”.
The ESC final will take place on Saturday (May 16th). The show can be seen live on ARD from 9 p.m.
