The SPD local association Flieden and Rückers has invited people to a bridge festival at the Eselswasserbrücke. Many Flieden residents did not miss this.
Flieden – A bridge festival with sausages, chocolate kiss rolls and warm and cold drinks, that's what the local SPD club Flieden and Rückers wanted to celebrate. The motto: Celebrate together what connects us. The perfect date for the bridge festival was soon found: May 16th is the memorial day of St. Nepomuk, the patron saint of bridges. Since this day fell on a Saturday this year, the Social Democrats quickly came to an agreement.
The bridge festival at Eselswasser in Flieden attracts many citizens
The small bridge over the Eselswasser in Flieden has been a source of plenty of conversation in recent months: An inspection by the Water and Soil Protection Department showed that the bridge was dilapidated and should therefore be demolished. “We wanted to continue to pursue the topic,” explained Dirk Leitschuh, chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in Flieden. The idea of organizing such a festival was also well received by the CDU parliamentary group and city hall boss Christopher Gärtner, explains Leitschuh.

Citizens also had the opportunity to write down their own suggestions for the community, but also for the bridge specifically, and put them in an “ideas box”. “We are very happy with the turnout,” said Leitschuh. The festival was very well received and new people from the kingdom kept coming by to chat over food and drinks and enjoy the afternoon.
