
An adult water turtle is currently causing a mystery in Fulda-Maberzell: the police are looking for the animal's owner.
Fulda – According to the East Hesse Police Headquarters, it is a slider turtle with a length of around 22 centimeters and a width of around 15 centimeters. The animal was discovered in Maberzell on Thursday evening (June 4th) and probably came from a nearby garden pond, according to the police.
Invasive species: African turtle discovered in Maberzell
The turtle species, which comes from South America, is considered an invasive species in this country. According to police, the animals threaten native amphibians and also eat the larvae of rare aquatic animals.
Anyone who misses their turtle is asked to contact the East Hesse police headquarters on (0661) 1050 so that the animal can be returned to its original place as quickly as possible.
Another animal use: An escaped young bull recently caused a lot of excitement in the Main-Kinzig district.
