A children's paradise has been created in Sargenzell. The new farm group of the Buchfinkenland daycare center has now been ceremoniously inaugurated.

Hünfeld – With a ceremony and an open day the new farm group on Sarah and Andreas Kruse's property in Sargenzell was inaugurated, as the city of Hünfeld reports. Cackling chickens and mooing cows provided the appropriate background noise during the numerous speeches and greetings. The tenor of all speakers was unanimous: A paradise has been created here for children who can experience nature with all their senses and learn responsibility and appreciation in the process.

“A farm is something special for every child. Here they experience nature directly,” said Mayor Benjamin Tschesnok (CDU). In the conversations with the head of the Buchfinkenland daycare center, Pia Biedenbach, the Kruse family and the representatives of the Buchfinkenland daycare center sponsoring association, he was able to sense how much passion had gone into this special project.

The mayor also revealed a special feature: the Hünfeld official goat also comes from the daycare group's farm. “It would be nice if the children from the farm group came along and acted as sponsors when the Amterbock beer was tapped at the Gaalbern Festival,” suggested Tschesnok.

He thanked the city committees that had supported the project from the start. The city of Hünfeld provided 130,000 euros for the project. “This is the best investment we as the city of Hünfeld can make. It is an investment in the future,” emphasized the mayor, who presented the children with a pedal bulldog as a gift.

Daycare director Pia Biedenbach was enthusiastic: “When I come here, one of you usually comes up to me beaming and gives me a freshly laid egg that has just been taken out of the nest. It's a dream for you children.” She highlighted the infectious enthusiasm of Sarah and Andreas Kruse as well as the support from the sponsoring association, the city and the parents. “Here the children experience nature as a living asset worth protecting and learn responsibility and appreciation for people, animals and plants,” says Biedenbach. The farm group also sets an example for agriculture, which deserves more recognition.

Deputy District Administrator Frederik Schmitt (CDU) revealed that Sarah Kruse once joked during the recognition year that they could start a farm group. “It's great when you're lazy and dreaming, because sometimes dreams turn into great projects,” he said and presented the children with a bobby car as a “company vehicle.”

Further words of greeting were spoken by Arthur Hahn from the Buchfinkenland day-care center sponsoring association, state parliament member Thomas Hering (CDU) and Inken Quaas, chairwoman of the Buchfinken support association, who brought a monetary gift. Pastor Stefan Remmert and Pastor Dr. Michael Müller gave the farm group the church blessing.

The children moved into the farm group in December last year. There is a 50 square meter shelter outside. In addition to chickens, there are mother cows and calves on the farm of the Kruse family, who run their business as an organic farm. In a vegetable patch, children can plant their own vegetables and observe the changes over the seasons.

The 20 children between the ages of three and six spend most of their day at the kindergarten with the animals and in the outdoor area. They are cared for from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
