
A soccer tournament in the Main-Kinzig district escalated on Father's Day. The police had to intervene and are now looking for a player who was apparently significantly involved.
Maintal – A Father's Day tournament on the sports grounds on Hanauer Straße in Maintal-Hochstadt got out of hand on Thursday due to a physical altercation between two teams.
According to the police, there was initially a verbal argument between players from two teams around 1:15 p.m., which eventually escalated. A 36-year-old man told officers that he had been hit in the face with his fist by a previously unknown opponent during the argument. There was then a scuffle between several people before the alleged perpetrator left the sports grounds, according to the police headquarters in Southeast Hesse.

Several patrol crews arrived to calm the heated tempers and separate those involved. According to police, some of those present had apparently consumed alcohol. The tournament was ended early for both affected teams.
The previously unknown suspect is described as being around 1.70 meters tall with a strong build. He is said to have blonde hair and blue eyes and wore a number 19 jersey during the game.
The police are now investigating suspected bodily harm and are asking witnesses who can provide information about the man's identity to contact the Maintal police station on 06181 4302-0.
