An escape from the police ends in a rear-end collision in Hanau: the driver is guilty of several crimes.
Hanau – A 36-year-old driver from the Main-Kinzig district has to prepare for several criminal proceedings after a chase through Hanau. The man fled from a police patrol on Wednesday evening (April 1st) and apparently endangered numerous road users, the police said.
The driver of a Mitsubishi Spacestar suddenly fled when he saw the patrol car on Luise-Kiesselbach-Strasse shortly after 8 p.m. During his journey he is said to have been traveling at speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour at times, entered a roundabout in the opposite direction and ignored a red light.
Wild chase through Hanau ends in rear-end collision
The chase ultimately ended with a minor collision. The 36-year-old braked his car sharply for no apparent reason, whereupon the patrol car drove up. The material damage caused is estimated at around 1200 euros.
During the subsequent check, the officers discovered that the man appeared to be under the influence of intoxicants. A blood sample was taken at the station. Further investigations also revealed that the license plates attached to the vehicle had probably been stolen. The car itself was not registered.
The 36-year-old is now being investigated on suspicion of forging documents, violating the Compulsory Insurance Act and endangering road traffic under the influence of intoxicants, among other things. The police are asking witnesses who observed the driving style or who may have been put at risk to contact the Südosthessen police motorway station on (06181) 90100.
This is not the only case of this kind in the region: at the beginning of March A 25-year-old in Steinau chased the police on a motorized two-wheeler – he was driving without a driver’s license and without insurance.
