“Car Friday” in East Hesse: Police announce checks
Experience has shown that the so-called “Car Friday” attracts numerous car and motorcycle enthusiasts onto the streets, the police say. What for some is a popular ritual at the start of the warmer season, regularly causes resentment for others. Especially in inner cities, residents repeatedly complain about nuisance caused by unnecessary driving, loud music or risky driving behavior.
This year, the police are consciously focusing on prevention and direct communication with road users. Discussions and targeted advice are intended to increase awareness of rule-compliant and considerate behavior. The officials want to counteract possible dangers at an early stage and raise awareness for greater consideration and safety in road traffic. Despite the preventative approach, the police make it clear: Any violations identified will continue to be consistently punished.
Last year The police checked 126 vehicles on “Car Friday” and issued nine criminal charges – whether the balance sheet will be similar in 2026 remains to be seen.
