Alliance for the region: The Fulda Clinic and the Herz-Jesu-Hospital are joining forces in a new MVZ for primary care.
Fulda – The Fulda Clinic and the Herz-Jesu-Hospital Fulda will work closely together in the future to provide primary care for patients in the city and district of Fulda. Both partners establish a medical care center (MVZ) in the form of a joint subsidiary.
The city of Fulda, the district of Fulda and the two hospitals announced this decision in a joint press release. The hospitals in Fulda would like to meet the challenges of demographic change with a strong, sustainable structure.
Fulda Hospital and Herz-Jesu-Hospital start new alliance
The cooperation is also intended to compensate for the impending shortage of skilled workers and the age-related decline in established medical practices in the region. High-quality family medical care in East Hesse should be secured in the long term. Unless another succession plan can be found, the new company will acquire and maintain licenses.
The start is to take place through two general practitioner offices in the Fulda (Flieden) district. As those involved told the Fuldaer Zeitung when asked, this is the continuation of a family doctor's practice – at the location where it is already located. This corresponds to the goal of ensuring comprehensive medical care in the region, it said.
The planned MVZ follows a decentralized approach. In addition to the aforementioned, firmly planned doctor's offices in Flieden (the location of which has not yet been provided), there are already expressions of interest from other resident doctors in transferring their license. This means that additional general practitioner licenses could be integrated.
The company will be founded in the legal form of a non-profit GmbH. The shareholders are the Klinikum Fulda gAG and the Herz-Jesu-Krankenhaus Fulda gGmbH, each with 50 percent. Meanwhile A new health center with a doctor's office, pharmacy and trade fair offices is currently being built in the west of Fulda. The opening is planned for summer 2027.
