A new health center with a doctor's office, pharmacy and trade fair offices is being built in the west of Fulda. The opening is planned for 2027.
Fulda – In the west of Fulda, a new center for health and trade fair activities is being built on Ernst-Barlach-Straße in the Fulda Gallery. It is intended to sustainably strengthen both medical care and the trade fair location. Construction on the modern commercial building owned by Hommel Immobilien KG is scheduled to begin next summer.
New health center should strengthen Fulda's west
As the city of Fulda reports, Hommel Immobilien KG acquired the property from the city. “As a city, we strongly support this project because it creates new spaces for healthcare in the west of Fulda and at the same time provides important impetus for the development of the exhibition center,” said Mayor Dr. Heiko Wingenfeld (CDU) quoted. The new building will create a place that combines medical care, economic development and the Fulda trade fair location.

The “Country Doctor MVZ Fulda” will play a central role in the new building. According to the city, the first tenant is the practice owner Dr. Silvia Steinebach. She wants to establish a modern primary care cardiology practice there with four to five doctors in the future. According to current plans, move-in is scheduled for July 1, 2027. Steinebach and Dr. are already looking after us. Julia Demuth sees more than 2,000 patients per quarter in her practice in Sickels.
The medical offering is to be supplemented by a pharmacy, for which, according to those involved in the project, there are already several interested parties. In addition, the trade fair company “Neue Messe Fulda” is moving its headquarters from the city center to the new building on the exhibition grounds. In addition to modern office space, there will also be rooms for seminars and specialist events – especially in connection with the internationally important RETTmobil trade fair.

The new building is seen as a clear commitment to the Fulda trade fair location. The immediate proximity to the exhibition center is intended to create optimal conditions for events and specialist formats. According to the city, this will secure the long-term prospects of continuing to host and further develop the RETTmobil International trade fair in Fulda with guests and exhibitors from all over the world.
RETTmobil International is not the only event taking place on the exhibition grounds. There will be later this month the construction fair “hausplus Fulda 2026” organized. Above all, craft businesses and service providers from the region will gather at the Fulda-Galerie exhibition center from Friday, March 20th to Sunday, March 22nd.
Those involved in the project see a sustainable strengthening of medical care
For Sickels and Haimbach as well as the surrounding rural districts, according to those involved, the project primarily means a sustainable strengthening of medical care directly on site.
The building will have a usable area of around 1200 square meters and will be barrier-free. The site offers extensive free parking options for visitors. Around 400 square meters of space are still available for additional tenants. “Here we would particularly like to address partners from the medical and therapeutic care sector,” explains Manfred Hommel, Managing Director of Hommel Immobilien KG.
