Policewoman takes in abandoned puppy

From the side of the road to the heart!
Instead of ending up in the animal shelter, an abandoned puppy found a loving home – with a police officer, of all people. An attentive passerby and an animal-loving officer ensured that the little furry friend's story had a happy ending.

On Tuesday (February 24th) the cute puppy was discovered at Trinenkamp in Gelsenkirchen – alone, tied to a tree and apparently left behind by his owners. An attentive walker found the little guy and quickly took him to the nearest police station.

The officers immediately took care of the little furry friend. But despite all efforts, the owner could not be found. So that the animal didn't have to end up in the animal shelter, a police officer showed a big heart: She took the four-legged friend in with her without further ado.

Now the playful Australian Shepherd mix can go to a loving home – and maybe even get a little taste of police life. A career as a sniffer dog? Who knows. In any case, he is already curious enough!

Anyone who realizes that they can no longer care for their animal should definitely find out about safe drop-off options locally – for example at animal shelters or animal protection associations, writes the Gelsenkirchen police on Facebook. “Simply abandoning animals puts their lives in danger.” (lmi)
