From May 11th until probably mid-July, the A7 will only be available to a limited extent near the Hünfeld/Schlitz junction. From May 28th, the junction towards Fulda will be closed for two weeks. The reason is construction work.
Hünfeld – Update from May 24th, 5:21 p.m.: From Thursday (May 28th), 9 a.m., to Thursday, June 11th, at night, traffic in the area of the A7 Hünfeld/Schlitz junction will run in the so-called 3+1 procedure. A lane is placed on the opposite direction of the road. There are always two lanes available in each direction of travel.
A7 exit Hünfeld/Schlitz in the direction of Fulda is closed for two weeks
Autobahn GmbH announced this. During this period, however, the entrance to the A7 in the direction of Fulda/Würzburg must be closed at the Hünfeld/Schlitz junction. The U86 demand diversion runs via Hünfeld and the B27 to the Fulda-Nord junction.
One lane in the direction of Fulda/Würzburg will also be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on five to eight nights.
The reason for these changes are necessary changes in the construction process. After June 11th there will be a conversion to the previously announced 4+0 traffic routing on the Fulda direction (see initial report from May 4th).
First report from May 4th, 10:57 p.m.: As Autobahn GmbH announced in a press release, the so-called transitional structures will be renewed from May 11th until probably mid-July. These are components that compensate for expansion movements between the road and the bridge.
Due to construction work: traffic diversion on the A7 near Hünfeld/Schlitz
The work will take place both on and below the roadway in the bridge abutment, according to Autobahn GmbH. For occupational safety reasons, the respective roadway must be closed to traffic. During the construction period, all traffic will therefore be placed on one lane in each direction using the so-called 4+0 method. This means there are still two lanes available for each direction of travel.
From mid-May to mid-June, traffic will be on the road in the direction of Kassel, and from mid-June to mid-July in the direction of Fulda. The Entrances and exits to the Hünfeld/Schlitz junction, which were renewed in 2025will remain open in every direction during the construction period, it was initially said. The Fuchsberg car park in the direction of Fulda will be closed.
