Marie Lindemann is experiencing one highlight after another these days and weeks: while other children her age go to school, she plays football. For Hesse and maybe already on Sunday for Germany.
Landenhausen – The 14-year-old is currently in training camp to prepare with the U15 national team for the upcoming international matches against the USA (Sunday, in Lingen) and against the Netherlands (Wednesday, in Oldenzaal). The plan is tightly scheduled for the entire student, because in addition to daily training and workshops on how to use social media or nutrition, the DFB also focuses on schooling.
Eagle on the chest: Marie Lindemann is about to make her DFB debut
Hardly any national association places such great value on school education and sends teachers to every course. No wonder: in the past few weeks, Lindemann has rarely been to be found at the comprehensive school in Schlitz. Because she was already there recently Hesse at the national cup in Duisburg, took eighth place, as torgranate.de reports.
A good result as Lindemann says, after all 22 teams fought for the title. The 14-year-old is a truly exceptional talent and started playing football at an early age. This is no coincidence, as her mother Stefanie (44) was already one of Germany's best players.
Under her maiden name Becker, she played three times for the senior national team and was also U18 European champion. Father Timo (46) once played for TSV Lehnerz before he focused on his career early on. The physiotherapist also works for the DFB and is currently looking after the boys' U19 national team, which is playing in the European Championships in Wales in a few weeks. But that's another story.
My role model is Giulia Gwinn. Not just as a footballer, but also because of her charisma and style.
At the site visit a week ago in Landenhausen, all three were sitting at the kitchen table, while brother Leon (17) was chilling on the sofa with one or two sayings. For Marie it is the first interview ever. At first she is much more reserved than on the football field.
There she prefers to work in the central midfield and impresses with her speed, strength in duels and overview of the game. But she can also get used to the central defender position, where she is intended by U15 national coach Bettina Wiegmann.
Whether the first nomination will be enough for a debut remains to be seen – especially since Lindemann belongs to the younger generation. Most of the players are older. This also applies to club football. Lindemann plays with the boys and is currently in the C youth team of her hometown club.
The JSG Lüdertal plays in the group league, and Lindemann also has a second game right with the B-juniors of TSV Jahn Calden, where she is only used sporadically. Lindemann's day only lasts 24 hours, especially since she also trains at the DFB base in Hünfeld on Mondays. Playing with and against the boys is a priority. At least for now. The Lindemanns have inquiries on the table, but no decision has been made about the future yet.
The first focus is on the international matches. The Lindemanns also provided friends and family with tickets for the game against the USA in the Emsland Stadium. Marie's anticipation is huge. She can hardly wait for the national anthem to play. The first time with the eagle on his chest. What an experience! What an achievement!
