Neuhof – Good news for the community of Neuhof: First district councilor Frederik Schmitt (CDU) has presented a funding notice for 262,500 euros for the expansion of the St. Barbara daycare center. The money comes from the district compensation pool, as the district reports.
The district is funding the expansion of the daycare center in Neuhof with 262,500 euros
The St. Barbara daycare center looks back on a long history. Built in 1967, it was last partially renovated in 2015 and equipped with a new kitchen. The facility has been run by the municipality of Neuhof since 2023. Now the next big project is coming up: an extension is to be built that will give the children more space to move around.
The heart of the expansion is a 70 square meter gym. However, the new area will not only be used for sporting activities for the daycare children. Designed as a multi-purpose room, it can also be used for other meetings, events and projects in the future. The extension will also create five additional childcare places.
The planning for the project is already well advanced. The building permit has been issued and construction is about to begin. The total investment costs amount to around 1.1 million euros. This amount also includes the installation of a photovoltaic system on the roof.
New gym and multifunctional room for Kita St. Barbara
“Children need spaces in which they can move and play together. That's why the new gymnastics and multifunctional room will be an important enrichment for everyday life at the St. Barbara daycare center. We are very pleased that the district supports this project,” said Mayor Heiko Stolz (CDU) when handing over the decision.
First district councilor Frederik Schmitt thanked the community for their commitment: “We are happy to support this important commitment in order to continue to offer children high-quality care.”
A new daycare center was also opened in Lehnerz in September 2025. The construction of the day care center, which cost six million euros, took around two years.
