Here you could see how much athleticism there is in the region: On Monday afternoon, Fulda Mayor Dag Wehner and the Hessentag couple Vera and Max Dudyka honored 115 children and young people for their sporting achievements.

Fulda – Whether swimming, climbing or judo – on Monday afternoon (June 15th) 115 children and young people up to the age of 16 were on the Hesse day honored by the city of Fulda for their special successes in 2024 and 2025. Hessian, South German and German champions were on stage this afternoon and were celebrated by a large number of visitors. Fulda's mayor and head of sports department Dag Wehner (CDU) as well as the Hessentag couple Vera and Max Dudyka congratulated the young athletes.

“Beyond these achievements, courage, commitment and discipline are what count, especially in youth and youth sports,” emphasized Dag Wehner. Sport is also about not giving up after defeats. This was also what the honoring of the young athletes stood for. He thanked the trainers and the families of the children and young people: “You all make it possible for our young people to get involved in sport.”

Vera Dudyka also praised the commitment of the children and young people: “It’s nice that you do sport together.” Sport connects and creates new friendships. “We also met through sport and are now the Hessentag couple.”

Meanwhile, on the fourth day of Hessentag there was a colorful program around the topics of inclusion and participation.
