Months of manhunt over!
The convicted right-wing extremist Marla Svenja Liebich has been caught in the Czech Republic. A spokesman for the Halle public prosecutor's office confirmed that police officers had arrested them on the basis of a European arrest warrant.

Liebich was actually supposed to serve her sentence by August 29, 2025 at the latest, but did not report to the women's prison in Chemnitz. The police and public prosecutor's office had issued an arrest warrant after Liebich failed to appear in custody. The officials searched for the right-wing extremist across Germany. She claimed to have gone abroad via Platform X.

When she was arrested in Schönbach near Asch in the Czech Republic, she tried to evade arrest. There should be an extradition procedure. Liebich was taken into custody as a person, without specifying his gender.

Liebich was sentenced in July 2023 – then still as Sven Liebich – by the Halle district court for incitement, slander and insult to a total prison sentence of one year and six months without parole. The appeal against it failed, as did the later revision.

Sven Liebich changed his gender

Sven Liebich had his gender entry changed from male to female and his first name changed to Marla Svenja. The case recently reignited the debate about the new self-determination law. The public prosecutor's spokesman left the question of Liebich's appearance when he was arrested open. The Mitteldeutsche Zeitung reports that Liebich was wearing men's clothing and that his head was shaved.

The law that came into force in November 2024, which replaced the previous transsexual law, made changes to the gender entry and first name significantly easier.
