The mayor of Schlitz, Heiko Siemon, is supposed to bring a breath of fresh air to the board of trustees of the Eichhof Foundation Lauterbach. He was reappointed.
Schlitz/Lauterbach – The mayor of Schlitz, Heiko Siemon (CDU), was recently appointed to the board of trustees of the Eichhof Foundation in Lauterbach in the Vogelsberg district. “Through him, the traditionally close connections between the city of Schlitz and the foundation based in Lauterbach are not only intended to be continued, but also specifically revitalized,” writes the Eichhof Foundation.
“We are very happy that the mayor has decided to join the board of trustees. Thanks to his political connections and the expertise that he brings with him in the area of finance from his CV, the foundation will continue to grow and prepare for the future,” explains the chairman of the board of trustees, Dr. Gerhard Schlitt.

Heiko Siemon brings a breath of fresh air and new perspectives, especially in the area of political networking, in order to secure stable financing in the long term. His appointment to the board of trustees of the Eichhof Foundation also closes an existing gap and sustainably strengthens the Schlitz location.
“The connection to Lauterbach is traditionally close,” says board member Thomas Faust, emphasizing the growing collaboration in the health sector, especially through outpatient care for people in need of care through the Eichhof social station, which is part of the foundation and has a local branch, and the Schlitzerland senior center
Background: The Eichhof Foundation
With 960 employees, the Eichhof Foundation is (according to its own information) the second largest employer in the Vogelsberg district after the district administration. 656 employees work at the Eichhof Hospital gGmbH and the Eichhof Service gGmbH Hospital. There are also 176 employees in the Eichhof outpatient care service social station and in the Schlitzerland senior center.
A further 108 employees work at Vogelsberger Lebensräume gGmbH and 20 at MVZ Eichhof gGmbH. The Eichhof Foundation's subsidiaries also occupy a leading position as training companies. Around 70 trainees are trained and further qualified in a wide range of health professions. In 2027 the Eichhof Foundation will celebrate its 150th anniversary.
Heiko Siemon underlines the importance of the facility for the region: “The seniors’ facility represents the citizens of Schlitz as part of the infrastructure in the care sector, but also in patient care through the Eichhof Hospital.” The proximity to Lauterbach has grown historically and many people from town and country consciously base their decisions on facilities in the district.
For Dr. Gerhard Schlitt, the mayor of Schlitz's involvement also corresponds to the principles of the foundation. This stipulates that, if possible, a Schlitzer citizen should be part of the foundation board. In addition to the chairman, the board of trustees currently includes his deputy Rainer-Hans Vollmöller and seven other people, namely:
Heiko Siemon and Rainer-Hans Vollmöller elected to the district council
Kathrin Knöß, Werner Müller, Prof. Dr. Christian Rohm, Dr. Stefan Zinn as well as advisory member of the Eichhof board Thomas Faust, the special representative Christian Baureis and now also Heiko Siemon. The latter was elected to the district council with Rainer-Hans Vollmöller in the local elections. Both voices there – especially in the Health Committee – are of great relevance for the Eichhof Foundation
A few weeks ago, the long-standing head of trauma surgery and orthopedic surgery at the Eichhof Hospital in Lauterbach, Dr. Jürgen Ludwig, retired. His successor is Klaus Thole. Jürgen Ludwig was recognized in the laudatory speech as a “real team player”.
