The tense situation in the Middle East is causing uncertainty among many travelers.
While some holidaymakers are rethinking their plans for long-distance travel, a well-known favorite German destination is particularly benefiting from this: Mallorca. The Balearic island is currently experiencing a significant increase in demand – and the airline Eurowings is also reporting surprisingly strong booking figures.
From problem child to summer hit
Just a few weeks ago the situation looked significantly different. Compared to the previous year, bookings for Mallorca flights were noticeably lower. However, the tide has now turned: According to information from Eurowings, the current booking figures actually significantly exceed the already strong previous year's figure.

Uncertainty is driving holidaymakers to Mallorca
According to Mallorca Magazine, many industry observers see a connection with the ongoing tensions in the Middle East. Many holidaymakers are currently rethinking their original travel plans. Instead of long-distance travel or vacations in the region, many are now opting for destinations within Europe.

Mallorca in particular benefits from this. The Balearic island is considered to be easily accessible, familiar and reliable – qualities that, according to Mallorca Magazine, are particularly important for many travelers, especially in uncertain times. Mallorca is also extremely important for Eurowings. The airline operates its most important international holiday base in Palma and connects the island with numerous German and European cities.

Summer flight schedule is in place despite the crisis
At the same time, Eurowings is trying to allay holidaymakers' potential concerns. The background is the consequences of the Iran war, which are now also affecting the international energy markets. According to reports, the price of aircraft fuel has risen significantly since the beginning of the conflict, and possible supply bottlenecks are being discussed again and again.
Nevertheless, Eurowings sees itself well prepared for the upcoming summer season. According to the airline, fuel supplies are secured at all European locations. The 2026 summer flight schedule is also not at risk.
