The “FULDA” lettering on the Pauluspromenade is a popular photo motif – but the large, blue letters are currently incomplete. City marketing chairman Felix Wessling explains why.
Fulda – Some people suspected vandalism: the “L” in “FULDA” has currently disappeared. But Felix Wessling from City Marketing Fulda gives the all-clear: “The letter has not been stolen. We are decorating the L for Hessentag. It is currently being repaired.”
Where is the L from the “FULDA” lettering? Letter currently missing
The large, blue letter was slightly damaged, but not by vandalism, but by the weather. “The L will be back by Hessentag,” says Wessling. “At latest!”
Then tens of thousands of visitors are expected in Fulda. And the “FULDA” lettering in front of the cathedral and the Hessentagsrena, which is currently being builtwill – as before – be a popular photo spot.
The lettering has been “wandering” through the cathedral city since 2020. At the beginning the letters could be found on Uniplatz, then on the station forecourt and now on the Pauluspromenade. Wessling explains whether it will stay that way or whether the lettering will change – possibly due to the Domplatz concerts. “We’ll sort that out.”
The “FULDA” lettering emerged from a competition run by City Marketing Fulda. A company from Mengerskirchen produced the letters free of charge for the city.
The idea came about in 2018 and was implemented in 2020 – the lettering was supposed to be Hesse day to be set up in 2021. This was canceled due to the corona pandemic and will take place in Fulda this year.
