
There was a serious traffic accident in the Rhön between Hofbieber and Poppenhausen. A motorcyclist was seriously injured.
Hofbieber – A traffic accident in the Rhön region of Hesse resulted in one person being seriously injured and property damage amounting to around 3,000 euros. The accident occurred on Friday (May 23rd) at the intersection of the state roads L3330 and L3379 between Poppenhausen-Steinwand and Hofbieber-Kleinsassen.
Serious accident in the Rhön: car driver fails to notice motorcyclist
A 62-year-old driver from Fulda was driving her Citroën on the L3379 and wanted to turn onto the L3330 towards Kleinsassen, as the East Hesse police headquarters announced. She apparently overlooked a 19-year-old motorcyclist from the Fulda district who had the right of way and was coming from the right.
The motorcyclist could only swerve to the right to avoid a collision with the car that was already turning. The motorcyclist first initiated emergency braking and veered off the road to the right.
The young biker tried to avoid colliding with the car by swerving to the right. According to the Hilders police station, he initiated emergency braking, but then lost control of his motorcycle and left the road. The biker fell into a ditch.
“He was seriously injured and was taken to a nearby hospital in an ambulance,” reported a police spokesman. According to officials' estimates, the motorcycle suffered a total economic loss of around 3,000 euros.
Also on Friday, a 71-year-old driver hit a biker while turning on the B276 federal highway near Schotten in the Vogelsberg district. The seriously injured 63-year-old motorcyclist was flown to hospital in a rescue helicopter.
