Two channels, one common goal!
They come from two different worlds and are now standing together in front of the camera for the new news magazine “Deutschland am Morgen” on RTL and ntv: ntv presenter Sybille Scharr and RTL presenter Jan Malte Andresen. In the interview they reveal why exactly this mixture should work – and what they have in common privately.

“Germany in the Morning” is intended to provide information and put you in a good mood

“It’s a bit like getting to know each other on air.”looks Jan Malte Andresen for his first week of service Sybille Scharr on “Germany in the Morning”. The two of them haven't had much time to get to know each other yet – but that's exactly what's so appealing to him. “So far everything has matched up quite well.”

With “Germany in the Morning,” Sybille Scharr and Jan Malte Andresen now start the day together – and with a mix that hasn’t existed before.

More news on RTL, more entertainment on ntv – that’s exactly what’s special about it for the moderation duo. “It’s an exciting combination,” says Andresen.

Sybille Scharr is also convinced that the concept can work. Her focus is primarily on the audience: everyday life is often complicated enough. “The world is upside down,” she explains. That's precisely why you need moments in which you can take a quick breath.

The new format is intended to deliver exactly that. Inform, but don’t overwhelm. “Start the day in a good mood and, above all, well informed” – that is the aim behind “Germany in the Morning”.

The new studio is a real highlight

The new studio is a real highlight for both of them. Sybille Scharr is particularly amazed by the technology: “Things are possible that were simply not possible for me in the ntv world where I come from.” And Jan Malte Andresen? He really goes into raptures. “I’m a bit of a tech nerd,” he admits. On the first tour he was just amazed.

Despite all the enthusiasm, journalistic standards remain high. “We will still have large news blocks,” explains Scharr. But it shouldn't stay that way. “We will classify all this news, delve deeper into it with our experts and take a close look at what it means for us in everyday life.”

Andresen also emphasizes the proximity to the audience: “Close to people, close to people’s lives – that’s the idea.” For him everything belongs together. “That's life as it is out there. There are the bad moments and the beautiful moments.”
And it is precisely this mix that should be reflected in the new format.

Reality TV as an after-work ritual

After so many messages, you sometimes need a break. Sybille Scharr knows exactly how to switch off: “I really enjoy watching our RTL entertainment formats in the evenings with chocolate in front of the TV.”

From “Are You The One?” Everything is included right up to the “summer house of the stars”. “I can really switch off there.” Jan Malte Andresen immediately agrees. “I love Summer House of the Stars too,” he says and laughs. And goes one step further: “I would like there to be a special edition with moderation couples.” And who knows, maybe we'll soon see the new moderation duo not only on “Deutschland am Morgen”, but also in the summer house in Bocholt…

The new news magazine “Deutschland am Morgen” runs daily from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. on RTL and ntv.
