The most important course for the Cold Market 2026 has been set: The Schlüchtern clubs have unanimously elected Fabian Orth as the future president.
Schlüchtern – Last November, Oliver Ohrmann opened the Cold Market in Schlüchtern. Now his successor has been chosen: Fabian Orth is the new president. The 29-year-old is a real “Schlüchterner Jong”. He was born in Schlüchtern in February 1997 and grew up in Birkenweg.
Orth has been a member of the Schlüchtern Volunteer Fire Department since he was ten years old, initially in the youth fire department and since 2015 in the operations department. He follows in the tradition of his grandfather Willi Blum and his father Jens, both of whom were or are active members of the armed forces for a long time. In addition, Orth is involved in events and courses within the “kitchen team”.
Schlüchtern elects Fabian Orth as Kalte Markt President
But Fabian Orth is also active in other clubs. For example, at the Schlüchtern carnival club “The Late Bloomers” as chairman of the eleven board, at the Schlüchtern sports community in sports field maintenance and at the local group of the German Red Cross in disaster control. He is also an active member of the “Kloburschen”, the Wallroth shooting club and the “Lebfritz” dart club. Orth works at the city of Schlüchtern's construction yard and has lived in Niederzell since 2023. He has been married to Michelle since 2024 and they have had a daughter since 2025.
The election proposal was brought forward at the meeting by Norbert Griebel, second chairman of the fire department, which will celebrate its 105th anniversary in 2026. This “small” anniversary is an opportunity to propose a worthy president from among their ranks. “He will represent this institution, but also the city, with dignity,” emphasized Griebel. And that's how the club representatives saw it, who voted unanimously for the 29-year-old.
Looking for helpers for the police show on August 22nd
Before the election, the head of the action group, Hans-Dieter Hausmann, remembered another important date: On Saturday, August 22nd, the South East Hesse Police Headquarters and the city are inviting people to the police show. Under the motto “Show respect – experience respect: Encounters with the blue light family” a varied program awaits visitors in the city area, including the Mauerwiese, the Untertor parking lot, the fire department area, the Auwiese sports area and the “Unter den Linden” street.
According to Mayor Matthias Möller, 10,000 to 15,000 guests are expected. In order to keep them in the city after the late afternoon program, the “Weitzel Festival” will be docked – a little earlier in the year. Numerous helpers from the clubs would be needed for this.
After the meeting, Fabian Orth waited in the equipment shed, where he happily received the congratulations from the club representatives and was celebrated extensively.
