Alsfeld – Trick thieves made loot in Alsfeld on Friday afternoon (May 8th) with a bold scam. At around 5 p.m., an unknown man rang the doorbell of a 74-year-old woman and pretended to be a heating installer. The elderly woman had no suspicions and let the man in.

According to the police's current findings, the man was not alone: While he was engaging the resident in a conversation, a second perpetrator sneaked into the apartment unnoticed. There he searched the rooms for valuables and stole several pieces of jewelry. The elderly woman only noticed the theft after the supposed craftsman had already left the house. Officials have not yet provided any information about the amount of property damage.
The police are now looking for the two men. The first perpetrator is estimated to be 30 to 40 years old and around 1.75 to 1.80 meters tall. He has a southern appearance, long brown hair and was wearing a light cardigan and jeans at the time of the crime. His accomplice is also described as having a southern appearance and dark, curly hair.
In Kinzigtal, too, con artists posed as craftsmen. A homeowner fell for the scam – it almost cost him 50,000 euros. Thanks to an attentive bank employee, the enormous financial damage was prevented
