The smell of freshly grilled food wafts across University Square: The Fuldaer Zeitung invites you to a big tasting of the official Hessentag sausage “HETAWU”.
Fulda – A total of 400 copies of the Hessentagswurst will be available on Friday (April 24th) from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. – in return for a donation to the FZ fundraiser “I need your help”.
Fuldaer Zeitung invites you to taste the Hessentagswurst
No stranger ensures the perfect preparation: Georg “Schorsch” Koch, former landlord of the Enzianhütte, is personally at the grill and supports the editorial team. Together, the team is not only looking forward to a lot of visitors, but above all to honest feedback from the test eaters.
The rules are very simple: everyone is welcome – while stocks last. Or to put it another way: When the 400 sausages are sold out, they are sold out. The Hessentagswurst itself has already attracted attention in advance. It was developed by the Fulda butchers' guild, led by master butcher Maximilian Gies.
Its flavor profile is deliberately regional: coarse caraway and strong black pepper give the pre-cooked bratwurst its distinctive note. “This is how Fulda tastes,” is the self-confident credo of the makers.
The sausage was convincing at its official presentation. Representatives of the Hessentag, local officials and guests were impressed by the mix of tradition and independence. The down-to-earth, yet creative cuisine is seen as an expression of regional identity.
Foretaste of Hessentag at Uniplatz
This also applies to the Hessentags-Weck, which was created by the Happ bakery from Neuhof. They are also happy to support the tasting on Universitätsplatz and without hesitation, so that visitors can enjoy the Hessentags-Weck even before the state festival.
The “HETAWU” is not only a culinary ambassador, but also a foretaste of the state festival itself. During the Hesse day It is offered on Borgiasplatz, but curiosity is already increasing. The sausage should be available in selected businesses in the region before the official start of sales at the end of April.
The anticipation is further fueled with activities such as the tasting on Universitätsplatz. And perhaps University Square is already showing what many have long suspected: that the Hessentagswurst has what it takes to become a crowd favorite.
