Travel frustration instead of travel desire!
Rising prices, growing insecurities – for many women in Germany their dream of a vacation is shattered this year. Instead of looking forward to the beach or a city trip, there is more and more reluctance: According to a current survey, one in five women is now canceling their travel plans for 2026. Between the explosion in costs and geopolitical unrest, the most wonderful time of the year for many is ending before departure.
Cost as the main reason
A current survey by Bild der Frau together with Forsa shows that one in five women is canceling the trip they have already booked for 2026. Over half of those affected (51%) cite prices that are too high as the main reason for canceling their vacation. Flight tickets, accommodation and additional services in particular have become significantly more expensive, so many people would rather forego the trip than exceed their budget.

Almost a third (30%) say they do not feel safe enough to travel abroad due to current geopolitical tensions. Wars, the threat of terrorism and unstable political developments mean that the feeling of unpredictability dampens the joy of traveling.

In 2024, however, the desire to travel was still booming: the number of multi-day trips at home and abroad rose by eleven percent to 277 million – a record according to the Federal Statistical Office. At that time, Germans traveled primarily within the country (163 million trips).
