
An Audi driver had a serious accident on the A66 near Hanau. He left the road, broke through a guardrail and landed in a forest.
Hanau/Erlensee – An automatic emergency call from an Audi Q5 that had been involved in an accident triggered a major rescue operation on Tuesday evening on Autobahn 66 in the direction of Frankfurt. As the Langenselbold fire department reports, they and the emergency services were alerted to the eCall that had been triggered at around 10:25 p.m.
Shortly before the Erlensee motorway junction, the emergency services discovered a breakthrough through the guard rail and a short time later the Audi Q5 that had been involved in an accident. “It was about six meters below the highway, around 50 meters from the breakthrough point in the Bulau forest, where it collided with several trees,” reports the fire department.

The driver was found away from the vehicle in the forest and treated by emergency services. He was probably thrown out of the car in the accident. The emergency services took the man to hospital with serious injuries.
Since it could not be ruled out that there were other people in the vehicle at the time of the accident, the emergency services searched the scene of the accident with a fire department drone. However, no other person was found. For the extensive rescue measures, the helpers closed two of three lanes and positioned a light tower vehicle below the highway.

According to the fire department, the police began investigating the cause of the accident and the amount of property damage; The accident investigation continued until well after midnight. The Langenselbold fire department was on duty for almost three hours with six vehicles and 18 emergency services.
Another traffic accident occurred in Hanau on April 1st. An escape from the police ended in a rear-end collision. The driver is guilty of several crimes.
