In the Odenwald district, a walker was seriously injured when an unknown person attacked her. The motive remains a mystery; investigators have ruled out an act of relationship.
A 48-year-old woman was seriously injured by an unknown man in a knife attack in the Odenwald district in southern Hesse on Easter Sunday. As police reported, the crime occurred while the woman was walking in Breuberg with three friends. When she stopped on the side of the road to take a photo of a flower, the perpetrator suddenly attacked her with a knife, said the Darmstadt public prosecutor's office and the South Hesse police headquarters.
The man only let go of the 48-year-old when the other women rushed to her aid. He then fled on a bicycle. The 48-year-old suffered such serious injuries that she had to be flown to a clinic in a rescue helicopter.
The background to the attack and the perpetrator's motive are still completely unclear, the investigators said. They consider the attack to be an attempted homicide. According to initial investigations, there is no evidence of a relationship act, it was said. The search for the perpetrator is ongoing.
