Large amounts of water escaped towards the Paulustor on Wednesday morning when a water pipe burst in the forecourt of the Maritim Hotel. The hotel's supply had to be temporarily interrupted.
Fulda – The water pipe burst in the delivery yard of the Orangery, near the Paulustor, occurred on Wednesday morning (April 1st) around 7:37 a.m., report Volker Nies, press spokesman for RhönEnergie, and Johannes Heller, press spokesman for the city of Fulda. “Water ran under a door onto the Pauluspromenade,” says Heller.

The water supplier OsthessenNetz then turned off the water at around 8 a.m. As a result, the water supply to the Maritim Hotel was restricted for several hours. Around three hours later, a replacement supply was set up to supply the hotel with water again. The damage site is currently being excavated by a specialist company.
Material fatigue is suspected to be the cause of the water pipe burst. “A connection with the recent turning on of the large fountain in the castle garden or with the construction work on the Kaisersaal terrace Apparently there is no such thing,” says Johannes Heller. “We are currently checking whether the surrounding buildings, especially the western pavilion, suffered damage from the water.”
