The search for Maddie McCann continues.
Almost 19 years after her disappearance, investigators are not giving up. New funding has now been approved for “Operation Grange”. The hope remains that the case will finally be solved.
“Operation Grange” has already cost that much
The investigation into the case of the missing Madeleine McCann is receiving a new financial injection. According to the British newspaper Sun, the British Home Office has approved an additional 86,000 pounds (99,000 euros) for the coming year for the responsible special team of the Metropolitan Police. Since 2011, “Operation Grange” has consumed a total of around 13.3 million pounds (15.4 million).
The investigative team currently only consists of three police officers and one part-time employee. The additional funds are intended to advance the work. There have been repeated searches in recent years. The last time emergency services combed a reservoir in 2023 was 30 miles from where the then three-year-old disappeared.
Main suspect Christian B. remains in focus
The German Christian B. has been the main suspect since 2020. German police are convinced that he is responsible for the toddler's disappearance and murder. There is currently no official charge in the case. He himself denies any involvement.

The convicted pedophile and rapist lives back in Braunschweig after his release from prison. This presents the police with major challenges. Meanwhile, Maddie's parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, remain hopeful. At the end of 2025, they wrote on the “Find Madeleine” campaign Facebook page that they continued to hope for positive news.
