Bad Soden-Salmünste – From Monday (March 9th) the L3216 country road between Waechtersbach/Aufenau and Bad Soden-Salmünster will be completely closed for the renewal of the road by Hessen Mobil. This closure is scheduled to last until the end of June 2026. Due to the short-notice announcement of the full closure, the KVG Main-Kinzig had to act quickly to ensure school transport.
The complete closure has a significant impact on the route of line 86, as reported by the Main-Kinzig district transport company (KVG). Lines 65S, 74, 76S and 88S, which are coordinated with school teaching times, are also affected. These changes affect Bad Soden-Salmünster and the integrated comprehensive school there, the Henry Harnischfeger School, the only one of its kind in the eastern Main-Kinzig district.
Full closure: Buses take the A66 to the Henry Harnischfeger School
In order to ensure school transport, bus traffic between Waechtersbach and Bad Soden-Salmünster will be rerouted via the A66, as the designated bypass route would mean an additional delay of 50 minutes per trip, the KVG informed in a press release.
“For this purpose, additional buses were ordered. This is intended to ensure that every child has a seat. Since the contingent of available buses is fully utilized, coaches were chartered at short notice. The buses will drive in the right lane at a maximum of 80 km/h in accordance with the safety concept that has been developed,” it says.
The buses will be used to the Henry Harnischfeger School in the morning and on three additional routes after the sixth period. They travel at the same time as the regular buses. From Monday (March 9th) there will be significant changes to scheduled services, for example for the Line 86.

The Line 65S cannot serve Aufenau, so passengers should switch to line 74. A coach is available between Waechtersbach and the Henry Harnischfeger School during the first and sixth lessons. There are minor adjustments on the 76S line.
