The Battle of Baroque martial arts event has long since become firmly established in the Fulda region. The event will enter its fifth round on April 25th – and has a new concept in store for spectators.
Fulda – In recent years, local hero and multiple kickboxing world champion Sergej Braun has defended his world championship belt in the main event. Since there is currently no compulsory defense, the organizers – Patrick Franz and Braun – have come up with something new: a four-man tournament. Sergej Braun will get into the ring in the Esperanto Hall together with three other boxers from Italy, Ireland and Germany. “We want to offer the spectators something new and breathe new life into it after four events,” said organizer Franz.
At the beginning of the main round, which begins on April 25th at around 8 p.m., the first two fights will take place, which will be drawn in advance and the final fight participants will be determined. The last fight of the evening will be the fight for the “Battle of Baroque” belt.

Twelve professional fights have been scheduled so far in the supporting program, and Domenik Arnold will also be getting back into the ring after his world championship fight in February. However, an opponent has not yet been determined. “The anticipation is great. I can hardly wait to get back in the ring. Then in front of the home crowd, that's always something special,” says the 21-year-old Fliedener. Other familiar faces from previous events will be there that evening and “hopefully provide a great atmosphere and strong fights,” as Franz emphasizes. There may also be a European title fight, but that is not yet 100% certain.

This year, eight amateur fights (starting at 5 p.m.) will take place before the main program. Elimination bouts will take place on Saturday (February 28th) in Brauns Gym. “We have great young athletes in the region and we want to give them not only a stage, but above all a great experience,” says the organizer, who is already in the middle of preparations with his partner Braun. After all, there are only two more months until it’s “Fulda, are you ready?” again.
“We have gained a lot of experience over the past few years that are constantly improving us and ensuring a certain routine. We are looking forward to a great evening of martial arts in the baroque city,” says Franz in conclusion. Advance sales have already started, tickets can be purchased online via eventim light as well as at the advance sales points (Brauns Gym, Goldene Nadel, Nahkauf Petersberg, Das Sporthaus, Alte Schule and many more).
