With a celebratory reception in the Marble Hall of the Fulda City Palace, Katharina Henkel was officially introduced into her position as the new chairwoman of the management of the Bad Hersfeld-Fulda Employment Agency this week.
Fulda – The 41-year-old has been running the agency since January of this year – after she had previously been managing director of operations for two years.
In addition to the head of the regional directorate Hesse the Federal Employment Agency, Dr. Frank Martin, the first district councilors for the districts of Fulda and Hersfeld-Rotenburg, Frederik Schmitt and Dirk Noll, the alternating chairman of the administrative committee of the Bad Hersfeld-Fulda employment agency, Manfred Baumann, and the chairman of the staff council, Patrick Giebel, took the floor.

It became clear: only through cohesion can a strong labor market region emerge and exist. The guests sent Henkel on his way with wishes – including “strong nerves, the courage to make unpopular decisions, perseverance, short meetings.”
The Fulda native brings a broad base of experience to her new role. After graduating from the Marienschule and studying in Göttingen with a focus on labor migration and intercultural competence, she started her career in a job center in Rhineland-Palatinate. Since 2009, she has worked, among other things, as a specialist for process and change management at the headquarters of the Federal Employment Agency in Nuremberg.
At the beginning of 2024, she returned to Bad Hersfeld-Fulda as managing director of the Rhineland-Palatinate-Saarland regional directorate, where she helped shape transformation processes in the world of work and participated in networks to secure skilled workers.
Networking is the central task of the Henkel agency manager
One of Henkel's central tasks as agency manager is to further expand network work and support transformation processes. The 41-year-old, who now leads more than 300 employees, formulated her credo herself: “Solutions are not created at the desk, but where the community takes responsibility. This requires people who are prepared to do their part.”
The event was moderated by Denise Otto from the Fulda Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The musical framework was created by the Schenk-Wagner duo from the Fulda Municipal Music School.
