Did the older brother rape the younger one?
The allegations shake one of Thailand's best-known business families. Siranudh “Psi” Scott, part of the Singha beer dynasty, has accused his older brother Sunit “Pi” of sexual abuse. He rejects the accusations – but the debate has long since extended far beyond the family.

“The worst moments of my life”

These are statements that are currently affecting the whole of Thailand. Psi, a member of the billionaire family behind the well-known Singha Brewery, has made serious allegations against his older brother Pi in an interview with Sky News UK. The Singha beer dynasty is one of the most powerful business families in the country and controls one of Thailand's best-known beer companies.

Psi describes why he is now speaking out publicly. The reaction to his story surprised him. He recently made the allegations against his brother in a highly emotional video online. “I never thought that people would see what were the worst moments of my life as a sign of my survival and strength,” he says. He expected even less that so many of those affected would then share their own experiences.

It is therefore clear to him: “As long as I live, I will fight for this story. No child should experience what I experienced.”

Family and company under pressure

When asked about the allegations, Psi becomes clear. He claims that his brother repeatedly sexually assaulted him for several years. “My brother sexually abused me many times – from the age of nine to about 12,” he says. While Pi was attending boarding school at the time, the attacks, according to Psi, mainly happened during his vacations in Thailand.

Pi, however, rejects the allegations. He denies the allegations and only speaks of “rough play” between brothers. For Psi, this representation is incomprehensible: “Grabbing someone by the throat and forcing yourself on them against their will is not a game. That is abuse.”

Psi also explains that he spoke about the allegations within the family around three years ago. He was silent for a long time. At some point, however, he reached a point where he no longer wanted to remain silent. “I didn’t want to let my life be dictated by money, by silence, or by the idea that a company was worth more than my own soul,” he says.

Pi is now said to have temporarily resigned from his position in the family business. According to Sky News UK, the parent company of the Singha Brewery said it rejects any form of domestic violence and any behavior that violates the rights and dignity of other people. (yeah)
