Angela Merkel apparently doesn't want to appear on the Kaulitz twins' podcast in the future. Bill Kaulitz in particular was surprised by the public rejection – and jokingly poked fun at the former Chancellor.

Angela Merkel has clearly rejected the Kaulitz twins – the two Tokio Hotel stars apparently take that personally. In the new episode of their podcast “Kaulitz Hills – Mustard from Hollywood”, Bill and Tom Kaulitz talk in detail about the ex-Chancellor's basket.

“We got a real basket case this week,” explains Tom Kaulitz. And his brother Bill was also surprised by Merkel's statements: “I was really sad.” He was literally “heartbroken”. He was particularly concerned about the nature of the rejection. “I saw it and thought: This could have been done nicer.”

Nevertheless, Bill Kaulitz still seems to like Angela Merkel. “She has a sense of humor, she's funny. I always liked how she said things with a wink and a bit cheeky,” said the Tokio Hotel singer. He also believes that Merkel probably didn't want to cause such a stir with her statement. “That was just supposed to be a little, cheeky, cheeky answer. I think that's more painful for me than it should be.”

But the Kaulitz brothers don't want to let Angela Merkel get away with it without a swipe. With a wink, Bill Kaulitz explains: “I always did a lot of advertising for her, even when she was still chancellor. And I believe that one or two votes are also due to me.” Tom Kaulitz then jokes that the ex-Chancellor may have more of a problem with his brother than with him. “Now she's really given you a drink. I think she has a problem with you and not with me.”

As Tom continued, there had been repeated attempts to establish contact with Merkel over the years. “We don't know each other personally. We've only ever tried to somehow establish contact through our podcast and through her office.” However, there was no direct rejection for a long time. “Nothing just ever came back – nothing at all.”

Particularly bitter for Bill: He had apparently already asked Angela Merkel for the planned return of “Wetten,dass..?” planned. The twins host the show on December 5th. “I had her firmly on the list,” says Bill. According to the current statements, we now have to observe “how she behaves in other interviews,” he adds with a laugh.

Angela Merkel had previously spoken about the Kaulitz brothers at the Republica conference as part of the WDR European Forum. In the “0630” podcast, the former Chancellor confirmed that the two had invited her to their podcast several times. “They often asked me if I would come,” said Merkel. However, she never agreed.

A later statement in particular made headlines. As part of a sentence completion game, Merkel was asked to complete the sentence “In ten years I will have the Kaulitz brothers…”. Her answer: “…still not on the podcast.”
