The city of Hünfeld's recycling center is to be relocated to the site of the composting plant in the Hünfeld industrial area. The corresponding construction contracts were awarded.
Hünfeld – According to a statement from the city of Hünfeld, the total costs for the project are around 360,000 euros. The current cramped location on Breitzbacher Weg is to be abandoned. The site is needed for the construction of a rain retention basin.
The merger will result in many synergies in terms of staffing and technical operations for both the city and the suppliers. The city reports that the composting plant site is already equipped for fencing with technical monitoring systems, entrances and exits and functional buildings.

The waste collection association for the district will also contribute to the construction costs Fulda participate, as the recycling center is part of the public waste disposal system. According to Mayor Benjamin Tschesnok, the magistrate also approved the plans for the new recycling center. The terracing of the site should be used so that the deliverers can approach the waste containers individually via a ramp.
In a later construction phase, the container locations and unloading areas will be equipped with PV module roofs. The first construction phase is scheduled to be implemented this year by October 2026.
