Vanessa Borck talks about new friend Lara

“Neither of us were looking at all.” Vanessa Borck begins her love story with this sentence. In the current “Let’s Dance” season, the 29-year-old danced across the dance floor, but had to leave quite early. Now a new happiness awaits her privately.

She reveals: “My girlfriend’s name is Lara, she’s 29 years old and we’re both turning 30 this year.” The two even have a little birthday detail in common. “We’re both Libra,” she explains. “She even has a birthday the day before mine.”

Lara lives in Cologne, so Vanessa is currently in a long-distance relationship with her. The two have been together for almost two months. And yet Vanessa already sounds very confident when she talks about her new love.

Vanessa and Lara met shortly after New Year's Eve. “We actually met in a club in Cologne,” says Vanessa. She was there herself because she was in Cologne filming “Nessi in Love”. Lara came over with a friend.

“It was just after New Year’s Eve, in the middle of the week,” says Vanessa. “So actually totally unlikely.” Vanessa didn't expect a flirtation at the time. She thought she might meet someone on TV – but not away from the cameras. But then Lara gathered her courage. “And then she just spoke to me.”

Why this love feels different

For Vanessa, it's the openness that makes the difference. “I think it's because I really haven't had anyone with whom I could communicate so openly before,” she explains. By that she really means everything. Feelings, fears, insecurities and thoughts.

Both spoke honestly to each other from the beginning. “She had her fears, I had other fears,” says Vanessa. You don't want to push anything away. “We talk about what concerns us or stresses us.”

That's exactly why the relationship already feels so close for Vanessa. “I think this open communication is exactly the reason why we already feel so close,” she says. Sounds as if Lara not only made the first step in the Cologne club, but also directly reached Vanessa's heart.
