New RTL+ documentaryXatar's widow sees her husband's death as “an emotional execution”
They are words that hit deep. Words full of pain, despair and endless love.
In the new RTL+ documentary about Xatar, his widow Farvah Hajabi speaks more openly than ever before about the loss of her husband. “What happened there was an emotional execution,” she says in an interview with Frauke Ludowig. And further: “It's as if you feel that you're no longer alive, but you're trapped in this body. For me it's very clear: There is no life without Giwar.” Rarely have you experienced grief so unfiltered and honestly.
Farvah Hajabi is “torn apart” by the death of her husband Xatars every day
In May 2025, rapper Xatar, whose real name is Giwar Hajabi, was unexpectedly found lifeless in an apartment in Cologne. The shock for his fans is still deep today. But Xatar wasn't just a rapper, he was also a husband and family man.

The RTL+ documentary (Stream now here on RTL+) shows the emotional consequences of Xatar's death – for his family, his children and especially for his wife Farvah Hajabi. Again and again she visibly struggles for composure when she talks about her late husband. “It hurts. It hurts a lot,” she explains. You have to accept “what you can’t change”. But that's exactly what she finds difficult to this day. “That doesn’t mean it doesn’t tear you up every time.” Particularly moving: Despite her deep sadness, Farvah tries to stay strong for their children. “I miss everything, but I have my children,” she says quietly. A sentence that shows how much the loss still resonates today.
Between love, crashes and difficult decisions
The documentary not only highlights Xatar's career, but also the difficult last months before his death. There is talk of economic problems, lost millions and a “total business loss”. At the same time, it's always about the great love between Giwar and Farvah Hajabi – and the stresses that their relationship had to endure.

Frauke Ludowig also asks the direct question. A question that many people ask themselves, but no one says: “How many times have you been in a situation where you said, 'I'm leaving him'?” A question that shows how intense and complicated this journey together must have been. The answer may be all the more surprising for many.
