Schlüchtern – A driver may have narrowly escaped an accident after strangers are said to have loosened the wheel nuts on his car. As the Schlüchtern police report, the blue Opel Astra with HU license plates was parked in a garage on Frankfurter Strasse between Sunday (May 10th) at 12 p.m. and Monday (May 11th) at 5:45 a.m.

The nuts of a front tire were apparently loosened by previously unknown people. The owner only noticed the dangerous intervention while driving on the motorway: According to the police, he noticed a change in rolling behavior and an unusual noise. He then steered the car onto the hard shoulder and stopped.
The car was then towed away. The police are now investigating, among other things, suspicions of dangerous interference with road traffic. The officers are asking witnesses who can provide information about the person or persons responsible to contact the police in Schlüchtern on (06661) 96100.
Meanwhile, an accident on the A7 near Uttrichshausen ended tragically on Sunday evening (May 17th).. A car rolled over and ended up on its roof. It caught fire. A 27-year-old BMW driver from the Fulda district died. His 18-year-old passenger from Bad Brückenau was seriously injured.
