Between hope and deep sadnessKoch loses his wife and son after giving birth to triplets
It is a stroke of fate that touches you deeply!
Kuldeep Singh from Wöllstadt loses his wife and one of his newborn children within a few weeks. The other two premature babies are still fighting for survival in the hospital. Now an entire region is pulling together to support the father of the family in his most difficult time.
Premature babies are born as early as six months
Kuldeep Singh has been working as a chef at the Meisinger butcher shop in Friedberg, Hesse, for many years. The 42-year-old was expecting triplets with his wife – but the pregnancy was complicated. Two boys and a girl were born on February 14th in the 24th week of pregnancy.
The three babies needed immediate intensive care. They fought for survival for weeks.

First a baby dies – then the mother
Four weeks after the birth came the first tragic news: one of the two boys died. But that's not enough. The children's mother also dies on April 10th.
The two remaining premature babies remain in the pediatric intensive care unit and continue to fight every day. For Kuldeep Singh, his entire world collapses within a very short time.
“It's just chaos. You can't describe these feelings,” says Susanne Reutzel, head of the Meisinger butcher shop, in an interview with RTL.

Colleagues help with offices and funerals
The father of the family has now traveled to India to bury his wife and son there according to religious tradition. In Germany, his colleagues and friends try to support him as much as possible.

“We went to the authorities, to the undertaker and helped wherever we could,” reports an employee at the butcher shop. “He was completely overwhelmed in this situation.” In addition to the grief, the enormous financial worries are particularly stressful: funeral costs, hospital stays and the subsequent care of the two babies present Singh with major challenges.

Friedberger show great sympathy
The butcher shop therefore launched an appeal for donations for their colleague. Customers donate directly in the store, transfer money to an escrow account and regularly ask about the condition of the two children. “Many people stand in our shop and cry with us,” says Susanne Reutzel. “The sympathy is huge.”
It is still unclear when the two premature babies will be allowed to leave the hospital. However, one thing is certain: Kuldeep Singh will not have to walk this difficult path alone.
