Lautertal – On Monday morning (May 18th), the Vogelsbergkreis control center alerted the rescue workers at 7:18 a.m. to an operation with the keyword “person trapped”. According to the fire department, a single accident occurred between the districts of Eichenrod and Hopfmannsfeld in Lautertal.
Fire department operation with 50 forces: driver seriously injured
According to initial findings, the driver first drove over two traffic islands on Mühlstrasse in Lautertal-Eichenrod and knocked down several detour signs. Their vehicle then ended up in a ditch in the intersection area to Hopfmannsfeld and came to a stop against a tree.
The driver was locked in her vehicle after the accident, but was not trapped, according to Helmar Höll, fire department operations manager. In consultation with the emergency doctor, the fire department carried out a so-called “patient-friendly rescue”. The 67-year-old was seriously injured and taken to the hospital in the rescue helicopter Fulda flown.
The fire brigades from Lautertal, Herbstein and Ulrichstein were on site with around 50 emergency services. The emergency services, the rescue helicopter and the police were also on duty. The property damage is estimated by the police at around 5,500 euros. A towing company took care of the vehicle.
Meanwhile, an accident on the A7 near Uttrichshausen ended tragically on Sunday evening (May 17th).. A car rolled over and ended up on its roof. It caught fire. A 27-year-old BMW driver from the Fulda district dies. His 18-year-old passenger from Bad Brückenau was seriously injured.
