Hünfeld – A spectacular comparison exercise by the Federal Police with an audience, after-work party and charity bike ride is coming up in Haunestadt at the end of May. From May 27th to 29th, Hünfeld will be the meeting point for the federal police's evidence preservation and arrest units, as the city announced.
The background is a nationwide comparison exercise, which was canceled last year due to the high workload of the officers and is now being made up in Haselgrund and Hünfeld city center. The host is the Hünfeld Federal Police, which won this comparison exercise at the federal level in 2023. It does not act as an organizing agency itself.
Spectacular comparison exercise by the Federal Police is coming to Hünfeld
The publicly accessible part of the exercise in the city area begins on Thursday, May 28th at 5 p.m. at the Haselgrund festival site. There, the participating officers first complete a course with various obstacles and hurdles. The action then moves to the Hünfeld city center, where further tasks have to be completed.
At the same time, the first after-work party of 2026 will start in the city center on May 28th from 5 p.m. The chimney sweeps' guilds will also be stopping off in Hünfeld on this day as part of their nationwide “Happiness Tour”. The chimney sweeps use their bike tour to raise donations for children with cancer.
“With this public exercise, spectators can get an impression of the high level of performance of the officers,” emphasizes Mayor Benjamin Tschesnok. The exercises reflected some of the operational challenges faced by these specialized forces. Due to the close ties with the Federal Police, the city of Hünfeld was happy to make the areas in Haselgrund and the city center available for the events.
After a long struggle, the Hünfeld Federal Police Department officially put its longed-for third unit into service a few days earlier. The Hünfeld Federal Police Department is thus strengthening its role as an important location for nationwide security operations.
