Brachttal – On Sunday afternoon (May 18th), an escaped young bull in Brachttal-Hellstein in the Main-Kinzig district caused the fire brigade and police to be called into action. The emergency services received several emergency calls from 2 p.m. because the animal had apparently escaped and was showing aggressive behavior.
“According to previous findings, the bull jumped into the back of a car in the town thoroughfare and presumably injured himself,” said police spokesman Thomas Leipold on Monday morning about the incident in the residential area around Finkenweg. Despite all efforts, it was not possible to calm and capture the animal.
Dramatic mission: young bull shot in Brachttal
A hunter was called in to tranquilize the bull. However, the animal initially escaped and was temporarily near a cyclist, as the Southeast Hesse Police Headquarters in Offenbach announced. After the bull initially disappeared into the forest in the direction of Birstein, it was later spotted again.
“Due to the ongoing danger situation, the young bull ultimately had to be shot by the hunter,” added the police spokesman about the sad end to the incident. The officials concluded by saying that as of now there is no evidence of anyone being injured by the young bull in Brachttal.

The Hellstein fire department, however, mentioned a slightly injured cyclist. After a lengthy search in which, in addition to the police and fire brigade as well as the animal rescue unit of the Main-Kinzig district, two private drones and two dogs were used, the bull was found on the edge of the forest between Hellstein and Untersotzbach.
