The Schlüchtern town hall was fully occupied for the annual concert of the Elm Eisenbahner Musikverein. The performance was “film-like” – as the concert’s motto promised.
Schlüchtern/Elm – Not even the last seat remained free – an audience of 200 people gathered in the town hall to experience the annual concert of the Elm Eisenbahner Musikverein. It almost seemed as if Hollywood had made an amusing detour to Schlüchtern. Already in the foyer, the “Railway Worker Beast,” as one board member called it, dressed in a gray wig and got the arriving guests in the mood for the film.
Stormy applause at the Eisenbahner Musikverein's annual concert
Chairman Marc Richter was pleased with the good response after the first music lecture. He explicitly welcomed District Administrator Torsten Stolz (SPD), Jürgen Heil representing the city of Schlüchtern and the mayor, the Elmer mayor Axel Pauli, honorary members, honorary conductor and honorary president as well as friends from Schwalmbach-Elm and Bremerförde-Elm. Jürgen Heil thanked the association for its voluntary commitment. “Volunteering is the glue that holds our world together,” he said aptly.
The adult training orchestra (directed by Susanne Mackel) presented three pieces at the beginning. And the commitment to diligent practice, concentration and enjoyment of music together could already be clearly heard. Changes in tempo, harmonious dynamics and sophisticated arrangements, as in the musical melodies from “Les Miserables”, but also in the film music from “Lion King”, in marching rhythms and the liquid, relaxed “Don't cry for me Argentina”.
The ensemble of the wind orchestra (led by Lars Schönebeck), which was impressive in terms of quantity alone, shone in the following seven titles with film and musical melodies with truly cinematic presentations. Dynamics from the finest pianissimo and successful solo sequences to voluminous fortissimo visibly carried the audience along.
Volunteering is the glue that holds our world together.
An overture by the Japanese composer Satoshi Yagisawa was heard. An imaginative sequence of musical images in “Imagasy” was just as impressive as a suite from the film music “Forest Gump”, then from the “Star Wars Saga” and other film and musical scenes. Illusion was required, the music created images in the audience's mental eyes. Most of the melodies were not unknown to many, such as passages from “Pirates of the Caribbean”, “How to train your Dragon”, “Moments for Moricone” and finally “Beauty and the Beast”.
The wind orchestra, consisting of audibly advanced musicians, easily met the high standards. This was also reflected in the stormy applause after each piece and at the end, which was followed by encores. (By Gabriele Engelbert)
