From scandal star to family man“Liver sausage bread instead of a party” – Menowin Fröhlich’s new life before the DSDS finale
He was already at the top – and at the bottom.
Now Menowin Fröhlich wants to know again. At DSDS 2026 he is not only fighting for victory, but also for a new life. And if you listen to him, that has already started.
Will Menowin Fröhlich snatch victory on the third attempt?
“It’s much, much nicer than it was back then because I come in here today with a completely different attitude.” Menowin Fröhlich is back in the spotlight – and seems calmer than he has in a long time.
The singer is daring to make his big comeback at DSDS 2026. He ran for the first time in 2005, but had to give up due to an arrest. In 2010 he fought his way to the final and came second. Now he gets a new chance – and goes on stage with a completely different attitude.
“I go in here with a completely different emotion. I have fun on stage. I also use the stage. So now not to win a war, but simply to perform, to give something to the people out there,” explains Menowin in the RTL interview.
The people around him also feel this new attitude.

Ronja is Menowin's support in life
His partner Ronja in particular experiences this change first hand. The two have known each other for 18 years, have been a couple since last year – and are expecting their first child together. Her baby is due to be born in August. Huge happiness for both of them.
For Menowin, Ronja has long become his most important anchor. “It's really nice for me to have her there because she's my balance, my support in my life. And I just want to spend every minute with her.”
They also shape their relationship in their own way. Instead of a classic engagement, they rely on an unusual sign of their love. “Well, what does a wedding ring mean? It's more like an engagement ring. Actually, an engagement story where we said, 'Hey, other people wear rings. We'd like to tattoo our names!' And that’s what we did.”

Menowin's Shadow of the Past
But it's not as easy as it seems. Menowin has a turbulent past. Alcohol, drugs, prison – issues that accompanied him for a long time. Ronja knows these dark sides and supports him: “When he has a down like that, it's very suspicious. Then you just ask yourself: 'Where does that come from? What is that? (…) Then it's simply because you get him out of this whirlwind of thoughts a little bit and just talk him down a bit and say: 'Look'.”
But she also knows that he can only save himself. “She said back then: 'Watch out, I'm not the one who came and am now the miracle healer here!', but in the end it's primarily about protecting yourself,” says Menowin.

A new life before the DSDS finale
How much Menowin has changed can also be seen shortly before the big finale. In the past he would have celebrated – today he is looking for peace and quiet.
He spends the evenings in the hotel with Ronja, listening to music and enjoying time together. “Today I'm sitting in the hotel with my wife, listening to my songs again. Eating a liver sausage sandwich and giving each other a kiss and watching TV and just thinking it's nice that we can spend time together.”
The anticipation of the baby also gives him additional strength: “We're definitely looking forward to our baby. We're really happy. We've already grown together as a family. The other kids too and everything like that. You see her as your sister.”
More than just a title
Whether he at the end DSDS 2026 wins is open. But one thing is certain: for Menowin Fröhlich it's about more than just a title.
It's about family. Stability. And about not losing yourself again.
You can see the grand finale on Saturday, May 9th at 8:15 p.m. on RTL and in the live stream on RTL+. Did you miss DSDS? No problem. The shows will be available later on RTL+ ready to stream.
