In this case, more is more – or rather “plus”.
The food retailer is giving away 33,000 Shell fuel vouchers nationwide, each worth 150 euros, via the Lidl Plus app. Because the persistently high fuel prices are putting a heavy burden on households.
This is how you take part in the competition
Anyone who purchases at least 50 euros this week and activates the competition coupon in the Lidl Plus app has the chance to win one of the 33,000 Shell fuel vouchers. Lidl writes: “With a total volume of almost five million euros, the campaign is designed to provide noticeable financial relief in a phase of tense fuel prices. On the one hand, customers benefit from the usual low Lidl prices, the savings through the Lidl Plus app and also have the chance to cover a significant part of their monthly mobility costs.”

“Fuel discount” could reach customers with a delay
The effect of the “tank discount” could only reach customers with a delay at the beginning of May. The reason for this is the tax system, according to a statement from the Fuels and Energy trade association for a hearing today in the Bundestag's Finance Committee.

In order to reduce fuel prices, the black-red coalition plans to reduce taxes on diesel and gasoline by around 17 cents gross per liter for a limited period of two months. The reduced tax rates should apply from May 1st to June 30th.
The draft law states: “It cannot be ruled out that the tax rate reduction will be delayed and gradually reflected in consumption prices.” There had already been similar concerns in 2022 with the fuel discount at that time.
