In the Itzehoe regional court on Friday (April 10th), the gruesome details of an act that leaves you speechless come to light. A 20-year-old is said to have brutally murdered his own grandmother out of greed. Now Jeremy R. is on trial.
58 stitches and an ice-cold plan?
The accusation is serious: Jeremy R. is said to have gained access to his grandmother Sabine R.'s house in Besdorf through the patio door in October 2025 – deliberately where there is no video surveillance. He is said to have “encountered the injured party there, killed her with several stab wounds and then stole valuables,” says public prosecutor Madeleine Hader in an RTL interview.

17 stabs in the head and neck, 41 in the back of the defenseless woman. According to the court, internal organs were injured and the woman died of massive blood loss and respiratory failure. “For this reason, we assume that greed is the murder characteristic,” says Madeleine Hader. In and around the house, investigators found ransacked bags, a lot of cash, a knife, a Taser and a blank gun.

Crime scene photos are shown at the start of the trial. Around 100 pictures that are almost unbearable. You can see the smashed door and the 65-year-old's body covered in blood. Meanwhile, Jeremy R. lowers his head and presses his hands over his mouth and eyes. The 20-year-old apparently doesn't want to see what he is said to have caused. The co-plaintiffs, his own mother and her sisters, also look away. They all lost their mother that day.
Co-plaintiff Jens Hummel describes the situation in an interview with RTL as follows: “The mother in particular is of course exposed to ambivalence with regard to her situation, that the mother was killed here and the son is the defendant here. That is a burden that is reflected in this role.”

Sabine R. is found by her partner. He also alerts the police. “She's dead, she's dead,” he is said to have said again and again, completely distraught, according to a police officer who testified as a witness. Another officer reported to the court that the man immediately suspected his own grandson was the perpetrator because he had broken in before to steal money.
Sabine R. was well known in the small village near Wacken because she ran a campsite and also lived on the site herself.

After the crime, Jeremy R. fled in a white VW Golf and had several accidents while driving. The police publicly searched for the car – shortly afterwards it was stopped. The handcuffs click that same day. He has been in custody ever since. It is also known in court: At the time of the crime, Jeremy R. lived without a permanent address and was staying with friends. He initially remained silent about the allegations, but said he would comment later.
“The defendant was an adolescent at the time of the crime, so that if youth criminal law is applied here, a maximum penalty of ten years in a youth prison is generally possible.”says public prosecutor Madeleine Hader in an interview with RTL. Twelve more days of trial are scheduled for the trial, and a verdict is expected to be handed down at the beginning of July.
