Now the Canary Islands are affected by a serious bus accident. At least one person died. What is known so far.
Bus accident with one dead and 14 injured
At least one person has died in a serious bus accident on the Canary Island of La Gomera. The vehicle fell down an embankment said the emergency service on the Atlantic island, which belongs to Spain and is popular with tourists. In addition to the male fatality, 14 people were injured, three of them seriously.
The accident occurred in the early afternoon not far from the island's capital, San Sebastián de La Gomera. The vehicle left the road on the GM-2 highway and fell down a slope. The cause of the accident was initially unclear.
Numerous rescue workers were deployed at the scene of the accident, including paramedics, firefighters and the Guardia Civil police unit, as the regional newspaper Canarias7 reported. A rescue helicopter supports the rescue and transport of the injured. (dpa/vho)
