The die has been cast, the two top positions in Hünfeld local politics have been filled. The Hünfeld CDU named the candidates at its parliamentary group meeting.
Hünfeld – The new head of the city council will be retired federal police officer Jürgen Bohl, who has previously been responsible for, among other things, associations and sports as a city councilor. Wolfram Becker from the sports store of the same name in Haunestadt becomes the first city councilor. Because of the Union's 60.2 percent majority in the city council consent is considered a formality. Steffen Diegmüller remains group leader.
Top positions in Hünfeld local politics have been filled
The 64-year-old Bohl is looking forward to his new position. He was thanked with great applause for his willingness to “take on the honorable task and follow in great footsteps.” Bohl became a city councilor for the first time in 2001, and the native of Rhineland-Palatinate has been a member of the municipal council since 2014, “which gives him a comprehensive insight into the processes of the city committees and therefore brings the best prerequisites,” explains the CDU after its constitution.
The businessman Wolfram Becker becomes the first city councilor and thus the mayor's representative. “Our city is worth working for,” says the 59-year-old, explaining his commitment. When asked by our newspaper, CDU city association chairman Steffen Diegmüller downplayed the fact that Becker might have too much on his plate with the new office: “The proximity between his business and the town hall has advantages, for example if something needs to be clarified promptly.” Diegmüller recalled the times when Willi Vogt was first city councilor: “Strategically, that was very favorable.”
Other candidates on Mayor Benjamin Tschesnok's wish list for magistrate are Karin Grosch (Malges), Benjamin Käsmann (Nordend) and Sonja Hess (Michelsrombach). Diegmüller speaks of a good mix; With Bohl (Mackenzell) and Becker (Kernstadt) as well as the other city councilors, the entire city area is represented in the most important offices. Manuel Dux (Head and Finance) and Martin Stehle (Construction) should remain committee chairmen.
The nominations and elections for the parliamentary group executive committee were unanimous. After Diegmüller was re-elected as parliamentary group leader, Chris Heumüller and Katja Hartung-Jesensky were elected as deputies, the board members Manuel Dux as managing director, Charlotte Herrmann as secretary and Simone Flugel and Simon Filipp as assessors. The constituent meeting of the city council is on Tuesday, April 28th, at 6 p.m. in the town hall.
