Celebrated for a long time and slept far too short – that is the balance of the old and new mayor Timo Lübeck (CDU) in Haunetal. “From Tuesday we will continue our work.”

Haunetal – The celebrations continued until well after midnight on Sunday evening – or rather Monday morning – in the Schützenhaus Stärklos. “We made a good push,” admitted Lübeck, whose voice still sounded a bit rough on Monday. The first guests left during the evening, but then the administrative staff arrived and counted the ballot papers with the list cross that evening. The night was correspondingly short for Lübeck and the hard core.

He still slept well and answered various messages in the morning. “There were probably around 100 messages on all channels,” he said Lübeck, who was elected mayor again in Haunetal on Sunday with 76.75 percent of the vote had been elected.

He was happy about that. And on Monday – after he provided pizza to poll workers and administrative staff – he emphasized his claim to want to be mayor for everyone. “It is my aim to please everyone,” emphasized Lübeck, although he is aware that this is very difficult in today's financially demanding times. “Nevertheless, I would like to continue to communicate and explain transparently,” is the Christian Democrat’s slogan. “It is important to me that there are broad majorities for our decisions.”

Lübeck doesn't even want to think about whether that could be enough for 80 or even 85 percent in five years: “We'll start doing our work as normal again from Tuesday.” The constituent meeting of the new municipal council, which was also elected on Sunday, will be on Tuesday, April 14th, at 7 p.m. in the Citizens' Hall of the town hall in Neukirchen. “The meeting is public,” emphasized Lübeck, who is hoping for many citizens.
