More and more details are coming to light about the man who caused the deadly inferno on a bus in Kerzers. As the Tagesanzeiger reports, the 65-year-old is said to have lived in a neglected camper in Bernese Seeland. The vehicle is said to have been parked in front of a farm.

Peter M. lived isolated in a run-down camper

The man, whom the newspaper calls Peter M., is said to have been “increasingly isolated, in debt and in poor health. According to the farm owner, M. was said to be barely able to walk upright because he was in so much pain.

He is said to have withdrawn further and further into his own world and to have exhibited psychologically abnormal behavior. The 65-year-old apparently didn't empty his overflowing mailbox either. The responsible social authority in Bernese Seeland confirmed to the newspaper that the man had applied for support with authorities. An employee is also said to have tried to find a place for M. in a retirement home.
