Two elderly people have become victims of trick theft in the Main-Kinzig district. In both cases, the victims had previously been asked for change.
Bad Orb/Nidderau – According to the police report, the first theft occurred on Friday (June 5) around 2 p.m. in the customer parking lot of a bank on Pfarrgasse in Bad Orb. According to the description, a man who was around 40 years old and 1.80 meters tall asked a 61-year-old for change.
When he then opened his wallet, the fraudster is said to have reached into it himself and, in addition to the change, also stole an additional 280 euros. The 61-year-old only noticed that this money was missing when he wanted to pay for a purchase. The black-haired stranger, who is said to have been wearing a gray suit, was already off and running.

According to an almost identical principle, a 65-year-old woman's entire wallet was stolen on the same day in the Heldenbergen district of Nidderau. According to police, the woman was approached in the parking lot of a supermarket on Büdesheimer Strasse around 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
In this case too, the fraudster is said to have had black hair, but his victim is estimated to be around 50 years old and 1.65 meters tall. After the 65-year-old gave him the change he wanted, she put her wallet back in her handbag.
An accomplice of the man dressed in blue probably took advantage of the following unobserved moment to steal the wallet from his handbag. An unauthorized debit was then made from the woman's bank account.
The criminal police in Hanau are investigating both cases and are asking witnesses to call (06181) 100-123. The police are also investigating a case of dangerous bodily harm in Hanau: A young man is said to have attacked a 23-year-old with an irritant gun.
